This is something that Apple has previously done on last year’s 16-inch MacBook Pro and the newly released 2020 MacBook Air. Other than that, the 2020 13-inch MacBook Pro also comes with a much larger base storage at 256GB as opposed to last year’s model that starts at 128GB.
However, the base model still carries the same 8th Gen Intel Core i5 and Intel Core i7 from last year’s iteration alongside up to 16GB of LPDDR3-2133 RAM. If you want to have your 2020 13-inch MacBook Pro with the newer 10th Gen Intel Core or Intel Core i7 processor, then you need to choose solid state drive with at least 512GB storage. For customers that choose 10th Gen Intel Core processor for their new 13-inch MacBook Pro, they also can obtain up to 32GB of LPDDR4X-3733 RAM. As per other MacBook, the price of the 2020 13-inch MacBook Pro pretty much depends on the hardware that you choose for it.
In Malaysia, the 13-inch MacBook Pro with 8th Gen Intel Core i5, 8GB LPDDR3-2133 RAM, and 256GB SSD is priced at RM 5,599 with the 512GB variant goes for RM 6,339. The more powerful hardware option featuring 10th Gen Intel Core i5 chip, 16GB LPDDR4X-3733 RAM, and 512GB SSD has a price tag of RM 7,999 while its 1TB variation can be obtained for RM 8,799. As per usual, students will be able to obtain the newly refreshed 13-inch MacBook Pro at a slightly lower price. All the configurations that we mentioned above can be customized further although the price for those upgrades in Malaysia is not yet known for now since the 2020 13-inch MacBook Pro is still being listed as “Currently unavailable” on Apple Malaysia’s website.
We will keep you posted once the status has been updated by Apple. So, stay tuned.
