Bloomberg reports that a number of companies that make chips and circuit boards for Apple have factories in the country. They are Murata Manufacturing Co., Renesas Electronics Corp., and Ibiden Co. They’ve all halted production as a result of the MCO.
Similarly, Micron Technology Inc., which makes memory chips for Apple, is also operating in a more limited capacity. Other companies in the Apple supply chain that have facilities in Malaysia include Texas Instruments Inc. and On Semiconductor Corp. But despite all this, Bloomberg reports that the upcoming iPhone announcement in fall has yet to be severely derailed. Though what this likely means is that Apple will still announce the phone as planned, but stagger its availability. In a way, it’s similar to the Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro, which the company announced recently, but will only be available in May. (Source: Bloomberg)
