VGC reports that an internal Codemasters statement says that Take-Two made a non-binding proposal to acquire the entire share capital of the company. Take-Two shouldn’t be a stranger of a company, as it is the parent of 2K and Rockstar after all.
Take-Two told VGC that it believes Codemasters will benefit from its global distribution, and nearly every aspect of game publishing, from live operations, analytics and marketing to product development. All that said, it’s likely that the company will still be able to maintain its autonomy despite the acquisition. At least, based on the example of Private Division. As an aside, Codemasters has a studio in Malaysia as well. Assuming the company keeps its autonomy, then nothing should change on that front. Unless Take-Two decides it wants it to be Rockstar KL or something, which is quite unlikely at this point. (Source: VGC. Image: Wikipedia)
