The new trailer opens up with, ironically, a slightly darker tone than the 47 minutes alpha gameplay trailer that we saw last year. For a start, the current trailer shows us the male counterpart of the V, the game’s protagonist and the character players will be controlling in-game, about to turn in a quest to Dexter DeShawn, one of the quest givers that was also introduced in last year. The punchline here is that the deal between V and DeShawn seems to have turned sour, and DeShawn tries to tie up loose ends by attempting to eliminate you. Of course, CD Projekt Red (CDPR), the game’s developer and publisher, saved the best for last. At the end of the trailer, it was revealed that Keanu Reeves’ (of John Wick fame) likeness would be used for an NPC in the game, and from the looks of it, it seems that that NPC is none other than Johnny Silverhand, a fictional rocker based in the world of Cyberpunk 2077. To butter up the attendees at its keynote, Microsoft also invited Reeves himself on the stage to announce the official launch date for Cyberpunk 2077. On that note, the game is slated to launch on April 2020 next year, and will be available on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. We’ve also embedded the part of the Xbox E3 2019 presentation with Reeves coming up on stage, courtesy of GameSpot. We still don’t know the role and capacity of Reeves’ character in Cyberpunk 2077, but one Tweet jokingly took a dig at this, saying “A lotta dogs must die in CyberPunk for Keanu Reeves to get involved”.
