Epic Games says that its MetaHuman Creator is a cloud-streamed app that works by “drawing from an ever-growing library of variants of human appearance and motion”. The process itself looks like an extremely detailed video game character creation. But the details here are really on another level.
— Geoff Keighley (@geoffkeighley) February 10, 2021 The tool has over 30 hairstyles that make use of the Unreal Engine strand-based hair. There’s also 18 differently proportioned body types to choose from. And once you’re done making your MetaHuman via the creator, you can download it via Quixel Bridge and start animating it in Unreal Engine. You’ll also get the source data in a Maya file. For the most part, what the MetaHuman Creator can churn out is quite scarily accurate. But from the animations, they can give just the slight feeling of stepping into uncanny valley. But no doubt it will still be a massive time saver for game devs looking to make characters of their games if they plan to use Epic Games’ Unreal Engine. (Source: Epic Games)
