The top five major smartphone brands – Samsung, Huawei, Apple, Xiaomi, Oppo – showed declines in their smartphone sales, with Samsung statistically being the biggest loser in sales. In Q1 2020, the Korean giant’s sales figures saw a decline of 22.7%, selling only 55333 smartphones versus 71621 units in the previous quarter. Huawei shares similar losses, with smartphone sales having declined by 27.3%, although it’s also likely that the lack of Google Mobile Services (GMS) and its ongoing sanctions by the US played a significant role in its declining sales. Of the five, Apple seems to have suffers the least in terms of smartphone sales with a decline of 8.2% in its iPhone sales.

To our surprise, Xiaomi was the only one on the list to have seen a growth in its smartphone sale, but before we get all excited, we should note that it was 1.4%. Specifically, it sold 393 more smartphones in Q1 2020 than it did in the last quarter. (Source: Gartner // Image: Techspot)
