What Grab Intercity essentially provides is the ability for its users to purchase bus and ferry tickets directly through the Grab app. In the announcement today, the company claimed that there are more than 15,000 routes available through the new feature at the moment. In addition to destinations all over Peninsular Malaysia, Intercity also covers direct routes to and from locations all over Singapore. To celebrate the launch, Grab is currently offering a 10% discount on all tickets purchased through the new Intercity until the end of this month. We gave the new feature a quick spin just to see what is it all about and there are a couple of things that we noticed. For starters, you have to acknowledge that Grab will be sharing some of your personal information with its partners that make the new Intercity feature possible which includes Splyt and Easybook. In addition to that, the only accepted payment method is GrabPay. So, you may want to top up the balance inside your GrabPay wallet before purchasing tickets through Intercity for a more seamless experience. Meanwhile, one of the introduction splash screens for Intercity also mentioned Indonesia but we were not able to find any routes to Indonesia inside our app. It is likely that option is not meant for Malaysians for the time being. For those who may wonder, purchasing tickets through Intercity also allows users to earn GrabRewards. You should already be able to see the Intercity icon by swiping through the main menu that is located just under the search bar on the home screen of the Grab app but in case you haven’t updated your Grab app for a while, make sure that it is version 5.160.0 or newer.
