When we reported about their launch last month, we had only touched on their base pricing. For this article though, we went through the Apple Watch Studio section of Apple Malaysia’s website and tracked down the full price range for both smartwatches, which is actually quite extensive given the multiple types of casing and straps that are available.
So, let’s start with the Apple Watch SE which only comes with aluminium body. Unlike the Apple Watch Series 6, it also doesn’t come with Always-On Retina display as well as blood oxygen and ECG sensor. Despite being powered by the S5 processor which is one generation behind the S6 chip inside the Apple Watch Series 6, the massive difference in terms of base pricing between the two models could be the crowd-puller factor for the Apple Watch SE. For those who are looking for the titanium case or the Apple Watch Hermes, sorry to disappoint you but they aren’t available in Malaysia.
As mentioned earlier, the Apple Watch Series 6 features a newer processor than the Apple Watch SE called S6 and is up to 20% faster that the S5. In addition to having a blood oxygen sensor, the higher-end model also features the U1 Ultra Wideband chip that adds spatial awareness capability to the smartwatch. The watch also has an ECG sensor but at the moment is not available in Malaysia since it has yet to receive an approval from the local authorities. Do note that the support for cellular networks comes as standard on Apple Watch Series 6 with the stainless steel case. Aside from Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Series 6 as well as the 8th gen iPad which was made available for purchase last week, there are still plenty of new Apple products that would be released in the country in the coming weeks. The list includes the 4th gen iPad Air, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. All in all, this is just the beginning of Apple’s year-end season with more to come shortly.
