Specs-wise, the main 85-inch display achieves a peak brightness of 2500 nits, has a 150% BT709 wide colour gamut, and a contrast ratio of 80000:1. It also uses a backlight technology called MINI starry sky that stacks the light source and the driver chip on top of each other. Enabling Hisense to create ultra-multiple partitions that each have a 4096 level brightness change. As for the viewing experience, Hisense says that the 85U9E uses an 8K 10-bit ultra-clear panel along with an AI-powered HDR algorithm. That restores the natural dynamic range by an approximate 1 billion colours. Further, it also says that the brand is capable of running at a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz and 3A games.
Of course, it goes without saying that a TV like the 85U9E isn’t going to be cheap. The TV retails for a hefty 79,999 Yuan (~RM49199), but in all fairness, that’s not the priciest TV we’ve seen on the market to date.
