Two newly registered trademarks were filed by the smartphone manufacturer at the China National Intellectual Property Administration office earlier this month, the publication reports. Specifically, these potential products bear the names “Honor Magic Fold” and “Honor Magic Flip”, which sounds awfully similar to Samsung’s naming convention for their foldable devices. Regardless, the takeaway from this similarity is figuring out which form factor the new Honor products could be featuring. In that regard, Honor Magic Fold will likely be a foldable phone that falls in line with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Fold or the Huawei Mate X. Whereas the Magic Flip is expected to feature a clamshell design, much like the Galaxy Flip and Motorola Razr. These are merely logical speculations based on familiarity, which can be proven inaccurate if Honor decides to surprise everyone and flip (no pun intended) the names for the alleged new devices. Although, the chance of the latter actually happening is very, very thin. Or at least we hope it to be. Specifications for either device are mostly a mystery at this time, but DealnTech believes that one, if not both, of which will feature an upgraded Snapdragon 888 processor. The website also says that the Honor Magic Fold will be the first to be unveiled, with a launch expected to happen in the second half of the year. The Magic Flip, on the other hand, is believed to only launch by early 2022.
We’ll see whether this leak is accurate or not when Honor decides to confirm it, hopefully in the near future. This is often done by officially announcing the new products straight up, or by releasing a series of teasers in order to build up hype for an unveiling. With that, we’ll keep you posted if we receive new information. (Source: DealnTeach via Gizmochina)
