According to the developer, the current state of the game was still far from its expectation. As such, it needed to delay the game’s launch for a few months in order to bring DOOM Eternal up to its “standards of speed and polish” and deliver a “gaming experience that is worth the wait”. In addition to the delay, id Software also announced that it will be adding a new play mode called Invasion mode. The mode itself will allow players to jump into other players’ game, but as a playable demon and not another Doomslayer. It will be available as a free update after the initial launch.

DOOM Eternal will also be making its way to the Nintendo Switch, albeit at a later date after its launch on other platforms. As for when exactly, id Software says that the arrival date will be announced in the future. Lastly, id Software will be releasing the remastered version of Doom 64 on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 (PS4), PC and Nintendo Switch as well. To sweeten the deal, the game will be a pre-order bonus for customers who pre-order DOOM Eternal, and will be available at the same time as the main game.
