Microsoft was working on the Surface Duo during its prototype and development stages with another company called Movial. With that done, the company wants to bring those worked on the Surface Duo in as full-timers. And to that end, Microsoft has acquired Movial’s operations in Romania, Taiwan and the US. Movial still remains its own company despite the transaction.

Despite what looks like a major increase in workforce, Microsoft is still hiring more people to work on the Surface Duo and its Android OS. In addition to that, these people working on the device will also be working on its successor, a Surface Duo V2, which is reportedly in early development. The actual release date and specs of the Microsoft Surface Duo are still up for speculation. Current rumours point to an unveiling just before the Samsung Unpacked online event. As for its specs, it could be packing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, 6GB of RAM, storage capacities from 64GB to 256GB, a 11MP camera, and two 5.6-inch AMOLED screens that unfold into an 8.3-inch screen.
