Saraya Arbi, ministry deputy secretary-general for culture, said “between 200 and 300 drones” will be part of the light show at Dataran Merdeka later tonight. The multi-coloured drones will be used to make 11 formations that will showcase Malaysia’s attractions. These include the trishaw, wayang kulit, and durians.

The announcement was made at the Malaysia Tourism Centre in Kuala Lumpur, following that of the 2020 countdown program. The entirety of the countdown program received RM2 million allocation. But it’s unclear what percentage of that amount is allocated to the drone formation light show. Because there are so many drones in the sky, it’ll be a bad idea to fly your own. If there are any drone in the sky that’s not part of the light show, the Royal Malaysian Police will shoot them out of the sky. With so many drones in the sky, there’s a risk of them colliding mid flight or dropping on someone. (Source: The Star)
