The claim comes from serial leaker Ice Universe on Twitter. He says that the Korean tech giant has created “an ultra-thin glass cover” for its next foldable phone. As proof, he points to the unwrinkled display of the phone claimed to be the successor of the Galaxy Fold. Sounds convincing enough, since creases can be very obvious on the plastic display of the current Galaxy Fold. They also accumulate and become more obvious over time.
— Ice universe (@UniverseIce) December 24, 2019 It’s also not an impossibility. According to The Verge, Samsung has filed for trademarks in Europe for what it calls “Samsung Ultra Thin Glass”. Another report by ETNews states that this will indeed be the material used as the display for the next Samsung foldable phone. Of course, none of this confirms that the image that surfaced last week is indeed a leaked next-generation foldable phone by Samsung. That said, it’s quite likely that the company will indeed make another one. There have been multiple reports of a next generation foldable phone, and Samsung itself showcased a concept of such a device. (Source: Ice Universe / Twitter, ETNews via The Verge)
