Nintendo CEO Shuntaro Furukawa told the news agency that the company has no plans to launch a new Switch model for this year. His statement came in response to rumours of a Pro variant of the console is currently in the works. The supposed Pro version reportedly features upgraded hardware to significantly boost its performance. Additionally, others rumours say that it may also support a higher resolution of up to 4K. The rumours started circulating shortly after the company had released two new versions of the Nintendo Switch last year. The first being an updated console with a larger battery capacity, while the second is a portable-only Lite variant. In hindsight, it’s still possible that Nintendo might actually consider making a Pro variant in years to come. The company previously released an upgraded version of the Nintendo 3DS in 2017, three years after the launch of the original. (Source / header image: Reuters.)
