Speaking about the price tag, it turns out that NVIDIA has quietly revealed the starting price for the GeForce RTX 30 graphics cards in Malaysia. This is quite surprising given how these graphics cards are not being released into the market immediately but nevertheless, we have since verified the information with NVIDIA.
According to the GeForce RTX 30’s official website for Malaysia, the RTX 3080 which will apparently be made available in Malaysia starting from 17 September onwards has a starting price of RM 3360. The RTX 3090 which will follow slightly later on 24 September can be obtained from RM 7208 onwards. On another hand, the RTX 3070 will be released sometime in October with a starting price of RM 2399. In general, the price for Malaysia is around RM 329 to RM 992 higher than the pricing in the United States.
That being said, consider this: the RTX 3070’s starting price for Malaysia is still much lower than the RTX 2080 Ti on Zotac’s official store at Lazada which is currently priced RM 5469. Even on NVIDIA’s own Lazada store, ASUS and MSI’s RTX 2080 Ti is still going for even higher prices at RM 7060 and RM 6300, respectively. So, despite the significant price disparity between Malaysia and the US, it seems like the price advantage of RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 over RTX 2080 Ti still applies in our market. Nevertheless, the RTX 30 series cards are still premium-tier hardware and as such, carries premium-level price tag as well.
