To start off, the game is set in a new region called Galar. The Galar region features captivating urban and natural environments with rustic countryside, modern cities, luscious forests, and snowy mountains.

Like every game in the franchise (except the Let’s Go series), the game starts with three new starter Pokemon: grass-type Grookey, fire-type Scorbunny, and water-type Sobble. The games will also include Pokemon from previous games as the foundation. There will also be plenty of new Pokemon to collect, trade, and battle. As previously mentioned, previous game elements are reintroduced into the game. In contrast to the “Let’s Go” series, the new Sword and Shield will see the return of random encounters, wild Pokemon battles and even Gym battles. The new Pokemon game stays true to the classic formula but with much greater graphic fidelity. Nintendo has confirmed that Pokemon Sword and Shield will be available in late 2019.
