This bit of information comes by way of a post made on the China-based tech forum, ChipHell. The post is written in Chinese (obviously) and posted by forum user Wjm47196. Translating the points, he goes on to say that AMD’s Navi 10 GPU is likely to make an appearance during Q2 and Q3 of 2019. The third point made by Wjm47196 is also consistent with earlier reports that Navi will still be based on a 7nm die lithography, along with a “surprising power consumption”. How the card will go up against the GeForce RTX 2080 still remains to be seen. Especially when you remember that NVIDIA’s RTX cards still has an edge over AMD with support for real-time ray-tracing.
In any case, AMD hasn’t released any other official statements about Navi 10. Until they do, it’s best to take this new with a very large pinch of salt. All things considered though, it’s likely that we’ll be hearing something about the GPU architecture during CES 2019, seeing how AMD is the event’s opening keynote speaker.
