So what’s new with the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 and the pro variant? Unlike the previous iterations, this current generation of tablets both have the same display. This comes in the form of an 11-inch 2560×1600 screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, support for Dolby Vision and HDR10, as well as up to 500 nits of brightness. There’s also the TrueTone tech for adapting colours and brightness to ambient light. For its chipset, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 chipset, while the Pro model comes with a Snapdragon 870. There’s also actually two variants of the Pro model, one which supports 5G connectivity, and the other being limited to WiFi. The standard model only comes with WiFi connectivity.
For batteries, the base model comes with a 8720mAh battery, which charges at 33W. The Pro model, on the other hand, has a slightly smaller 8600mAh battery, but charges faster at 67W. And for its cameras, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 has a 13MP main camera. The Pro model gets an additional 5MP wide angle shooter, while the 5G model pushes the main camera up to 50MP. Both models share an 8MP front-facing camera. In its home market, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 comes in two variants. At its most basic, it comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, with an accompanying CNY1999 (~RM1306) price tag. Another variant doubles the storage space to 256GB for a price of CNY2299 (~RM1503).
For the Pro model, this starts at a similar 6GB + 128GB configuration for CNY2499 (~RM1633), going up to CNY2799 (~RM1829) for the 6GB + 256GB model. And finally, there’s the 5G model, which comes in an 8GB + 256GB configuration and a price of CNY3499 (~RM2287). No word on their release on our shores yet. (Source: Xiaomi [1], [2])
