The announcement was made via Xiaomi’s Weibo account. The post includes an infographic on the family wellbeing’s features. Case in point, the earlier mentioned Children’s Space, family Guardian and Earthquake Warning features that will come in the next update.

To start, the Children’s Space feature will allow parents to set up parental control for their device before handing them off to their children. Additionally, Xiaomi will also add a child-friendly ringtone, reminding children to pass the phone to their parents when the phone receives a call. Further, the feature will also have smart eye protection to protect children’s eyes’ from long-term viewing. Moving on, family members will also be able to track each other’s whereabouts in real-time with the Family Guardian update. The feature is similar to the Family Sharing used in Apple’s iOS, and users will be able to set a restriction time. Thus, allowing parents to keep track of their children’s app usage.

The third feature, Earthquake Alert, is self-explanatory. For context, China is prone to earthquakes every now and then, so its addition in the upcoming MIUI 11 is actually pretty handy. In the instance of an earthquake, the phone will send a notification lasting for a few seconds, alerting users to brace for impact. In the event of an emergency, the feature will also display the emergency contact and medical info of a user. Further, information of emergency shelters will also be displayed, allowing users to seek out assistance if necessary. The MIUI 11 is currently set for release on the 24 September. Alongside the software update, Xiaomi will also be unveiling the Mi Max Alpha and Mi 9 Pro flagship smartphones. (Source: Xiaomi via TME.net // Images: Xiaomi)
